Terrible? Not even close

Terrible twos.  I heard this term and thought "Oh please.  What's a little screaming and a few tantrums?"

Um Yeah.  I am eating my words.  Everyday.  It started with a few "No's" here and there and pushing the limits once in a while.  We gave time outs, and my cute little 2 year old would say sorry, give hugs and go back to being my cute, well behaved little boy.

Something changed.  My little boy is now a screaming, tantruming, flopping around, hitting machine.  "No" feels like it's the only word used now. No dinner.  No cleaning up toys.  No brushing teeth, or sleeping, or changing diaper.  Even some "I NO love you's " thrown in there.

I know this is a phase.  I know this is something that everyone goes through and I know it will pass soon enough.  But for now this is frustrating and exhausting and heart breaking to see your sweet little guy change.  I have had my fair share of crying, and "mommy time outs", but am hoping this passes sooner than later.

If you have anything that has worked for you, during this "terrible" time, I'd love to hear from you.

Have a great Wednesday.

A Manic Monday, at the Momday

It's Monday.  Yeah thought I'd remind you just in case you forgot.  We are struggling with some two year old behavior.   Whoever invented the term "Terrible Twos" wasn't kidding.  In fact I think they were being way to kind for that term. I'll save that though, for another post.

Today I thought I would share some posts from some of the blogs I read with you guys.  I would also love to hear from you on some of your favorite blogs.  But in the meantime, show these blogs some love!

Emily over at Emily A Clark shows off her brand new home office, and it is beautiful

Jamie over at That's My Letter shows how to make the cutest "trugs" for your little one.  I have to try this.

Inside the BruCrew has delish looking Mint Chocolate Cookie N Cream Fudge.  I'll be making this for sure!

Finally, I have to mention my all time fav food blog Smitten Kitchen and her wonderful Fried Egg Sandwich with Blue Cheese and Bacon.

Have a great week!

Things I never imagined ..

There are many things I never imagined I would be doing when I was Mom.  Talking in baby talk, taking 5 second showers, singing ABC's in the car.  But getting excited about going poo poos on the potty takes the cake.  And I'm not talking about me.

Yesterday Jack went on the potty for the first time, and I think he was just as amazed as me.   We screamed, and danced and made phone calls to tell family.  He was even so excited about getting fruit snacks as a reward.  I told him over and over again "What a big boy....Jack is such a big boy".  He just walked around the house with the biggest smile on his face.

I'm wondering if this is the start of something great, or just something that happened once and will never happen again.

What are your experiences with potty did you go about it?
I'd love to hear...I am really sick of diapers.

Have a great Thursday!

Wordless(ish) Wednesday the pool!

Sorry I have been MIA the past few days...I took some blog time off to spend the long weekend with the fam.  We saw some movies, saw some friends and went swimming!  I think in Jack's other life, he was a fish.  So I am back with some cell phone pictures to share!  I hope you're all having a great week!

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies

I hope you are all having a wonderful pre-Valentine's Day weekend.  I know I am so happy to just relax.

I had a little extra time Sunday while Jack napped, and decided to make a Valentine's Day treat.  I am not kidding you when I tell you these are so easy and so delicious that ANYONE can make them.

Your will win your loved ones over with these cookies (that is if you don't eat them all!).  They are made with Red Velvet boxed cake mix, and can be cut using a heart cookie cutter.  I like my crinkles a little more puffy, so I left them the way they are.

Thank you so much to Two Peas and Their Pod for the amazing recipe.  Now go make some...and share the love.

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies

Yield: 2 dozen heart shaped cookies
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

1 box red velvet cake mix (I used Duncan Hines)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1/2 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Powdered sugar, for rolling the cookies
Heart shaped cookie cutter, optional

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper  and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix and flour. Whisk until clumps disappear. In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix together cake mix, flour, eggs, oil and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Take about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough and form into a ball. Roll the ball in powdered sugar until fully coated. Place cookie dough balls on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, or until edges are set and cookies begin to crack.
3. Let cookies sit on baking sheet for 2 minutes. If desired, cut cookies into heart shapes, using a heart shaped cookie cutter. Transfer cookies to a wire cooling rack and cool completely.

It's friday, so fill it!

Happy Friday!!

1.  I started my blog because   I wanted to share my domestic endeavors and inspirations - especially party planning which I've always loved.

2.   One thing I love seeing on other blogs   are great easy recipes and mom stories I can relate to.

3.  Something I love about blogging   Is to know I am not alone.  It's nice to know there are so many other people out there doing, and going through the same thing.

4. A favorite blog post of mine is probably  I don't really have one, but probably some of my stories about Jack growing up.  IT will be nice to look back and remember how I felt then.

5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I've never before mentioned on my blog is   nothing I would put on here ; )

6.  My new favorite blogs to read are  there are so many.  I am really into the food blogs now.

7.  Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are   telling to many stories no one wants to read.

Have a great weekend!

The food fight.

Food.  Who knew that something I LOVE would end in a fight between Jack and me.    It all started out so perfect.  Jack ate anything and everything, Jack's belly was full, Jack (and mommy & daddy) was happy.  What more could I ask for?

Oh the good old days.  Dinner now consists of loud cries, bribes for bites and anything but a nice family dinner.  What went wrong?  What happened to my little angel so happy and eager to eat (and please) his mama?

Jack's diet now consists of noodles, fruit and bread...and those are only if we're lucky.  "I want nuffin mama", is what we hear regularly at dinner time.

I think the terrible two's have begun.

I hope you are all having a great Monday!  I had another busy but fun weekend!  I want to announce the winner of the General Mills and MyBlogSpark giveaway.

More filling...

1.   If money wasn't an issue, the first thing I'd cross of my life list is     Going on a safari in South Africa.  That is one thing I have always wanted to do.  Hopefully one day I will  .

2.   Hot sauce on popcorn     is something I like that other people think is weird.
3.  Three things I am looking forward to this month are     Super Bowl Sunday ( I love all the food!)    ,  having a three day weekend for President's Day   and    Valentine's Day  .

4.  My favorite song to sing in the shower is   I don't sing in the shower, but if I did, it would probably be something country  .

5.  If I found out that the production of     Dorito's    was ending this month, I'd go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.

6.  One thing I'll never grow tired of is    spending time with Jack.  Pretty soon he won't want to hang out with me anymore  .
