taking a little time.....

You know those days where you don't want to do anything but relax, lay around and just enjoy what life has to offer?  That's what I have been doing the past few days.

I have been stressed to the max lately.  Work is stressful, the house is not as clean as I would like it,  and my meals are not as gourmet as I would like them to be. And of course, I have my days where all I want to do is feel sorry for myself that I have to work and that I can't spend every second with Jack.   I have moments like these every once in a while.....they pass, and things get back to normal.

I am trying to get back into meal planning, and finding more easy weeknight meals so that I can spend my time with Jack and not cooking dinner.  I am learning to be okay with a messy or dusty house for a few days.  I am also back to working out more so that I can relieve my stress and make my headaches less frequent.

I also needed some a few days of no blogging, or computer, just time for me and my family.  I have learned it's good to take a break like that once in a while. But I'm back and I'm getting more and more excited that the holiday season is here!

Or I can always watch my new favorite Youtube sensation......Enjoy!

Working Mom Meals: slow cooker edition.

I never had a slow cooker.  I always heard how easy it made meals but thought it was all just hype.  Well I recently got a slow cooker from my review with CSN and decided to try it out last weekend.  The result was almost perfection.  This was by far the easiest meal I have ever made and it was soooo delicious.  My husband couldn't believe how good it was.  I adapted the original recipe from here.  I think the vegetables make the meal.   Next time I may add potatoes also.  I did not take pictures because it tastes WAY better than it looks.

This recipe serves 8....(or my husband and I for two nights).

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (14.5 ounce) chicken broth
  • 1 bag frozen vegetables (I use peas, carrots and corn
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1 (10 ounce) package refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces

Directions

  1. Place the chicken, butter, soup,  broth and onion in a slow cooker.  (if needed add water to cover)
  2. Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High.
  3. About 2 hours before serving add vegetables.
  4. About 1 hour before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

haircut=fail

So Friday I attempted to get Jack a haircut.  I didn't realize how traumatic it would be for both of us.  Jack screamed like he was being tortured and I am having a hard time dealing with the mess that is his hair.

I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but I went to beauty school a few years back and have done many haircuts.  I figured I would try to cut his hair since it wasn't happening at the salon.  Well...this also didn't happen.  It was like he had super sensitive radar.  The minute my hand got near his head he flipped out.  This made me freak out also, becuase images of me cutting his ear off or chopping off a huge amount of hair by accident flashed though my head.

I am starting to think a toddler mullet may be in his future. Any advice you may have is appreciated.

So instead, we did what we do whenever it's 65 degrees in November (which is almost NEVER).  We go to the park.

P.S. Dear Gap, If you are reading this...yes, Jack is available for photo shoots.  ; )

Red.

Never have I loved this color so much.
And it's all because...

"Am I in heaven?"
"No," the barista said, "It's just Starbucks."

Wordless Wednesday.

I like this picture.

Check out more Wordless Wednesday pics at the paper mama!  Have a super Wednesday!

Let the holiday shopping begin!

I can't believe it's November already.  Stores have all of their holiday decorations out which means it's also time to start thinking about those holiday cards.  Now that I have Jack, I want to be sure to send a cute photo Christmas card every year.     Last year we used Shutterfly for our cards, and I am thrilled to use them again.  The hard part?  Which of the 748 designs will I choose?

Seriously, there are so many cute ones, I can't choose a favorite.  These two, however,  are so super cute!  All of the holiday cards are beautiful and I know you will be able to find one that fits your family!

I love this HO HO HO one becuase it's not your typical holiday card. I love the spot for 3 pictures as well.  This may be the one I choose!

Another card with the same idea as the first yet totally different is the 5x7 Scarlet Frames Story Christmas Card.  I loved the red design details, this holiday photo card looks polished, modern and elegant.  I liked two things about this card.  The first was the ability to write a quick milestone or update beneath each of the kids pictures.  The second is that because it is on a flat stationary card I could technically send it out as is, without an envelope as a post card.

I am so excited to start designing and ordering and sending my holiday cards!

You Can Get 50 Free Holiday Cards From Shutterfly - It's Easy!

I slack. I know.

So I started 30 Days of Truth thiniking I would post everyday, and it would be so great and life changing.
Then work and cleaning and cooking and errands and family got in the way.

So I am moving at my own pace....but it's okay.

Day 7: Someone who has made your life worth living for.
I think it's pretty obvious but there are two.  My husband and Jack.  My husban evens me out and brings me back to reality at times.  He is my best friend.  And well Jack, he is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.  I can't even explain it.

Day 8: Someone who made your life hell, or treated you like crap.
I am pretty lucky with this one, but no one.

Have a great Tuesday!

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!  I also hope you ate tons of candy..I know I did!
We had a great weekend...and  I'm exhausted.
I thought I would first share a little blast from the past.  This was Jack exactly one year ago today:
And this is Jack today.

We did the rounds today...went to both Grandma's homes and walked around the neighborhood.  He had a blast and I was surprised he didn't mind wearing a dragon head!

Next year we will attempt real Trick or Treating, but for now I had a blast just watching how much fun he had.

Enjoy the rest of your Halloween!

Help a girl out!

So my husband and I carved pumpkins last night.  We always try to outdo each other with our carvings.  That's where I need your help.  Which do you think is the better pumpkin?
The left or the right?  Have a great night and a great Friday!

I love shopping!

So I am in desperate need of a new area rug for my dining room. I was contacted by CSN stores to do another review and I am so excited to check our their area rugs! CSN  has a collection of over 200 online stores where you can find nearly anything whether it be a dining sets, cookware, tools, cribs, lighting, bedding, kitchen aprons, briefcases, and tons more!   Whatever your needs I'm sure you can find what your looking for at CSN Stores.
